Deeyah Khan is a critically acclaimed music producer, composer, Emmy and Peabody award-winning documentary film director and human rights activist, and is known for her outspoken support of women’s rights, freedom of expression and peace.
Today, amongst other topics, Deeyah talks with Ole Reitov, Executive Director of Freemuse about their collaborative project Listen to the Banned, a unique collection of contemporary songs by artists who have been censored, persecuted, imprisoned and even tortured for a very simple reason – their music, as well as more recent human rights issues.
Index on Censorship magazine editor Rachael Jolley will introduce Deeyah Khan and Ole Rietov.
