Over a four month period earlier in 2015 two Lincolnshire artists, Jason Willsher-Mills and Chris Searson worked with Lincolnshire community groups from across the county.
They visited Horncastle, Market Rasen, Sleaford, Gainsborough, Spalding, Long Sutton Boston, Louth, Lincoln and Christ Hospital school harvesting local people’s thoughts and feelings about the Magna Carta, what it meant in 2015, freedom, justice and human rights and sharing their own local perspective.
Inspired by the workshops the artists designed and created 20 bespoke flags, two to represent each community. The flags included images and themes important to each area looking to both the past and the future. They were exhibited for the first time at the Great Magna Carta weekend and are now at Lincoln Castle for throughout Summer 2015.
This project was funded by Lincolnshire County Council and the Lincolnshire Cooperative
